India should mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia

India is the only country that has strategic partnerships with both Riyadh and Tehran, hosts a 6+ million-strong diaspora in each region, and is trusted by both. If we can build the Chabahar-Suez corridor, we can build the Chabahar-Riyadh corridor too.

A permanent seat for India on the UN Security Council — how do we get there?

India has been "close" for two decades. G4 keeps meeting. P5 keeps stalling. What are the three concrete steps India should take in the next 24 months to convert diplomatic goodwill into an actual seat?

Should India renegotiate the Indus Water Treaty?

Signed in 1960. Every clause is being tested by climate change, glacial retreat and terror-linked provocations from across the border. When is the right time to open the treaty — and what do we ask for?

A rupee-denominated bloc for South Asia and the Global South

BRICS is exploring de-dollarisation. India could lead a "Rupee Pay" bloc with UAE, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Kenya. The plumbing exists (UPI, INR-linked settlements). What are we waiting for?

Implementing Mandatory Mental Health Infrastructure in HEIs

Clash: The hyper-competitive nature of exams like NEET and JEE has led to a mental health epidemic among our youth. Is our goal to produce test-takers, or to foster resilient, healthy citizens?

Information: Studies indicate that 70% of students face severe anxiety, and current trends in student suicides are a national concern that requires an immediate shift away from rote-learning.

Action: I suggest that all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) be mandated to provide a 1:500 counselor-to-student ratio, funded by a dedicated national education cess. We need to move beyond awareness campaigns and build the actual infrastructure to support our students' well-being.

India should host the 2036 Olympics

Ahmedabad has bid. The infrastructure will already be built for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Would an Olympics do for India what the 2008 Games did for China — or do we not need that kind of validation any more?

A digital sovereignty framework — for citizens, not corporations

Europe has GDPR. China has its own model. The US has none. India's DPDPA is a start. Now let's make it the strongest citizen-first digital rights charter in the Global South.

A South Asian University for Diplomacy — headquartered in Delhi

Every major power has one. Georgetown for the US. SciencesPo for France. Peking University's SIS for China. India has JNU, Jindal, Ashoka — none singularly focused on diplomacy at scale. Time to build.

Israel–Palestine — what should India's consistent moral position look like?

India was the first non-Arab country to recognise the PLO in 1974. India is also one of Israel's largest defence partners today. How do we hold both these truths without hypocrisy?

Should India rethink SAARC — or bury it and start again?

SAARC has not met since 2014. BIMSTEC is picking up some of the pieces. Do we build a new regional bloc without Pakistan (BIMSTEC 2.0), or bring SAARC back on Indian terms?

The China question — engagement or containment?

Trade with Beijing crossed \$135 billion in 2024, even as border tensions persist. Is the mature answer engagement-with-eyes-open, or full economic decoupling? Or something in between?

Climate finance — should India stop asking, and start setting the price?

The developed world promised \$100 billion/year in climate finance. It delivered around \$28 billion. Should India stop begging the West and instead price its adaptation needs, then buy from the market?

India should offer a lunar base slot to the African Union

If Chandrayaan-4 succeeds, ISRO will effectively have a foothold on the lunar south pole. Offering a formal AU seat at that base — symbolic, small, but real — would rewire how the developing world sees space forever.

A national policy for AI arms limitation

The US, China, EU and UK have started publishing AI weapons frameworks. India's stance is still ambiguous. Should we lead a "no lethal autonomous weapons" initiative at the UN, from the Global South?

Should India take in Rohingya and Uyghur refugees on humanitarian grounds?

A moral case. A strategic case. A domestic-political case. All three pull in different directions. Where should the line be?
